General Synod 2009

Every 2 years, the General Synod of the United Church of Christ (which is made up of all the congregations, associations, and conferences) gathers together.  In 2009, they will gather in Grand Rapids.

General Synod is a time of worship, fellowship, learning, connection, celebration...with a little bit of business thrown in for good measure.

They are estimating they need about 400 people to help host 4,000 visitors with a total of 4200 volunteer hours.  Volunteers will do everything from providing childcare, to helping with registration, to providing hospitality.  Volunteers are asked to sign up for at least one 4-hour chunk of time, and will receive $100 off their registration fee.
